Swiss Movie Night for the Entire Family
September 15, 2017 in Mountain View

We will show the popular Swiss Film Schellen-Ursli (2015) by renowned Swiss film maker Xavier Koller. The film is based on the famous children´s book by Selina Chönz and Alois Carigiet and tells the story of Schellen-Ursli who must brave deep winter snow to obtain an important family keepsake and thereby outwit a bratty bully who seems out to get him at every turn.

The Cultural Committee has recently been established by the United Swiss Societies. Its mission is to promote Swiss artists and cultural events in the Bay Area with a small budget allowance. March 19, 2017
The private tour at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art focused on the architecture of the newly expanded SFMOMA site whose original building was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta. In addition, the tour included a visit to a special exhibition "Paul Klee at Play", which highlighted Swiss modernist's lifelong exploration of the creative and transformative possibilities of play.

Feb 3-8, 2017
This 21st Berlin & Beyond Film Festival featured three Swiss films: The US premiere of Dark Fortune, a tragic drama, Heidi, an endearing family film and Wonderland, an apocalyptic thought experiment.

At the German Holiday Market, several Swiss artists offered their art to the community, including handmade aprons (Carla Twitchwell), greetings cards (Daniel Leu), handmade bags and pillows (Zwia Lipkin), and Swiss wood paintings (Heidi Price).

June 12, 2016
Swiss Kids' Day Camp provided children ages 4-14 the opportunity to learn traditional Swiss activities such as Schwingen (wrestling), Steinstossen (stone throwing), Talerschwingen and more!

The 20th Berlin & Beyond Film Festival presented three documentaries: Nicolas Steiner’s “Above and Below” (2015), Dodo Hunziker’s “Tibetan Warrior” (2015) and Samir’s “Iraqi Odyssey 3D” (2014).
